This barrel-aged Berliner Weisse presents a sophisticated evolution of the classic German style. The extended eighteen-month maturation in wood imparts a delicate structural depth that frames an immense infusion of fresh nectarines. Vibrant lactic sourness interplays with the juicy, sun-ripened character of the stone fruit, while a background of raw bread dough and soft wheat provides a sturdy foundation. Expect a vivid sensory journey where the tart, citrusy acidity of the base beer elevates the lush nectarine esters, finishing bone-dry with a faint, elegant whisper of oak tannin and stone fruit skin.
Appearance. Pale straw to golden-yellow with a slight orange hue; hazy to nearly opaque. Large, dense white head with poor retention and minimal lacing.
Aroma. High intensity; sharply sour lactic notes dominate, followed by an explosion of fresh nectarine, apricot, and subtle lemon. Faint floral esters and a light sourdough breadiness emerge alongside a very low earthy oak presence.
Taste. Aggressive but clean lactic acidity is immediate, balanced by a massive, juicy nectarine flavor. The mid-palate reveals grainy wheat and doughy malt. Hop bitterness is undetectable; the finish is exceptionally dry and tart with lingering stone fruit brightness and a hint of tannin.
Mouthfeel. Light body with a refreshing, crisp acidity. Very high carbonation provides a prickly effervescence. No alcohol warmth or astringency.
