This indulgent take on an American Stout presents a decadent sensory profile, defined by the rich layering of freshly toasted cacao and aromatic vanilla pods. The hazelnut addition provides a distinctive, savory nuttiness that integrates seamlessly with the roasted malt foundation of espresso and bittersweet chocolate. While it retains the firm bitterness and structured hop backdrop characteristic of the style, the adjuncts soften the roasted edges, creating a complex, confectionery-like experience. Earthy and resinous hop notes provide a necessary counterpoint to the sweet botanical warmth, leading to a lingering, creamy finish where dark grain intensity meets smooth, nutty elegance.
Appearance. Jet black and opaque (35-40 SRM) with a thick, long-lasting, creamy tan head that leaves dense lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity with dominant notes of dark chocolate, toasted hazelnuts, and sweet vanilla beans. Supporting aromas of roasted coffee and a light resinous hop character are present, alongside subtle dark fruit esters.
