This American IPA delivers a bold, Spanish-inspired take on the style, defined by a vibrant citrus and tropical fruit hop profile. At 7% ABV and 70 IBUs, it balances powerful bitterness with a refreshing, long finish. The sensory experience opens with intense aromatics of orange peel and stone fruit, supported by a clean, subtle grainy malt backbone. While it captures the spirited chulera of Madrid’s Malasaa district, the palate remains remarkably balanced, offering a crisp mouthfeel and a lingering, resinous hop character that invites another sip, maintaining a high-impact sensory profile throughout.
Appearance. Deep gold to light reddish-amber (8–13 SRM) with excellent clarity. Pours with a moderate-sized, white to off-white head that demonstrates good persistence and leaves consistent lacing.
Aroma. High hop intensity featuring prominent citrus zest, grapefruit, and tropical fruit notes. A low, clean, grainy-sweet maltiness supports the hops. Fermentation is clean with only a hint of light fruity esters and no detectable diacetyl.
Taste. Initial impression is a punch of citrus and stone fruit hop flavors. The malt presence is low and grainy with a faint toasted character. Bitterness is firm and high (70 IBU), perfectly balancing the medium-dry finish. The aftertaste is hoppy and bitter but clean, avoiding any harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture. Carbonation is moderate-high, contributing to a refreshing and crisp sensation. A very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is noticeable but smooth.
