La Pirata Lab 010 DDH IPA
This American IPA is a lupulin-driven showcase, utilizing a double dry-hopping technique to amplify its aromatic impact. The sensory journey begins with an explosion of tropical fruit and bright citrus, courtesy of the prominent Citra hops, while Ekuanot contributes complex layers of melon and berry. Loral adds a sophisticated floral and herbal elegance that bridges the gap between old-world and new-world profiles. Supported by a clean, lean malt backbone, the palate delivers a firm bitterness that transitions into a dry, refreshing finish. It is a bold, modern expression of the style, balancing high hop intensity with crisp drinkability.
Appearance. Deep gold to light amber (8-10 SRM). Displays a medium-sized, persistent white head with excellent lacing. Clarity is mostly clear with a very faint, characteristic hop haze from the double dry-hopping process.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of grapefruit, tangerine, and mango from the Citra and Ekuanot additions. Loral provides a secondary layer of wildflower and herbal spice. Low, clean, crackery maltiness supports the hops. Fermentation profile is clean and free of esters.
Taste. Initial impression is hop-forward with flavors of citrus zest, tropical fruit, and a hint of pine. The bitterness is firm and assertive but clean, providing a classic balance. A low, neutral, grainy malt presence supports the hop intensity without adding sweetness. Citra and Loral flavors linger in a dry, hoppy finish with a crisp aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly resinous texture. Carbonation is medium-high, adding to the refreshing quality. A light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present but remains smooth and non-astringent.
