La Pirata Lab 005 New England IPA
This Hazy IPA offers a vibrant sensory journey led by an intense four-hop blend of Mosaic, Amarillo, Simcoe, and Citra. It opens with an explosion of tropical fruit and bright citrus, where Mosaic contributes notes of ripe mango and blueberry, while Amarillo and Citra deliver layers of zesty orange and grapefruit. Simcoe adds a sophisticated touch of resinous pine and passionfruit. The soft, pillowy body provides a canvas for these lush flavors, balancing the intense dry-hopping with a smooth, low-bitterness finish. Clean, bready malts support the hop saturation without distracting from the juicy, fruit-forward character that defines this modern classic.
Appearance. SRM 4-6; deep straw to light orange hue with an opaque, hazy shine. Features a persistent, rocky, white meringue-like head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring a complex mélange of tropical fruit, mango, peach, and bright citrus. Mosaic provides a subtle berry note while Simcoe adds a touch of clean pine. The malt remains in the background with a neutral, lightly bready and grainy character; no caramel or toast is present.
Taste. High fruity hop flavor follows the aroma with dominant layers of orange, grapefruit, and tropical juice. The malt flavor is low, providing a supportive grainy-bread foundation. Perceived bitterness is moderate but restrained by a soft, off-dry finish. The aftertaste is clean and fruit-forward without any lingering harshness or hop bite.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, pillowy texture. Carbonation is moderate. Alcohol presence provides a very light, well-integrated warmth. The mouthfeel is smooth and lacks any astringency or raw starchiness.
