This American Barleywine is a massive sensory experience, doubling down on malt depth and wood-aged complexity. Aromas of toasted bread and deep caramel collide with assertive resinous hops and a distinct woody undertone from its time in barrels. On the palate, a profound malty sweetness is counterbalanced by an aggressive bitterness typical of the style, showcasing a "malt, more malt" philosophy. Despite the potent 13% ABV, the beer remains remarkably balanced with layers of dried fruit and vanilla-oak nuances. It pours a deep copper with ruby highlights, offering a rich, chewy texture and a persistent, warming finish that invites slow, contemplative sipping.
Appearance. Deep copper to light brown (16-18 SRM) with brilliant clarity and ruby highlights. Pours with a moderately low, tan-colored head that leaves thick legs on the glass due to high alcohol content.
Aroma. High intensity; dominant rich malt character featuring bready, toasty, and light caramel notes. Assertive hop aroma of resin and citrus, complemented by woody oak and vanilla. Significant alcohol presence with moderate fruity esters of dark plum and dried cherry.
