La Pirata Brewing Centaurus
Centaurus is a formidable Double IPA that balances raw hop power with a lean, drinkable structure. Intensely aromatic, it leads with a barrage of resinous pine, bright citrus, and ripe tropical fruit notes characteristic of modern New World hops. The malt profile is intentionally restrained, providing a neutral, grainy backbone that allows the hop complexity to remain the focal point. Despite its significant strength, the beer maintains a remarkable clarity and a dry, crisp finish. An assertive bitterness lingers on the palate, harmonizing with a clean fermentation profile to deliver a punchy yet balanced sensory experience that reflects its namesake's untamed nature.
Appearance. Gold to light orange-copper in color with good clarity. Features a moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head with good lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent citrus, resinous pine, and tropical fruit. A supportive, clean, neutral to grainy maltiness is found in the background with a lightly fruity fermentation profile.
Taste. Strong and complex hop flavor mirroring the citrus and pine aroma. Moderately high bitterness that is firm but not harsh. Low, clean, unobtrusive malt character supports the hop-forward balance. Finishes dry to medium-dry with a lingering hoppy, bitter aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth texture. Carbonation is medium-high. Features a restrained, smooth alcohol warmth without any harsh hop-derived astringency.
