Imperial Stout 11.2 º 72 IBU
This Imperial Stout presents an imposing sensory profile defined by its deep density and refined complexity. The experience begins with intense aromas of freshly roasted coffee, dark chocolate, and a sophisticated liquor-like warmth. On the palate, the influence of dark roasted malts is unmistakable, delivering a thick, chewy texture saturated with layers of bittersweet cocoa and toasted grain. Despite its significant 11.2% ABV, the alcohol is well-integrated, providing a smooth, warming sensation rather than sharp heat. The fine-beaded head crowns a liquid of obsidian depth, leading into a lingering, roasty finish that celebrates a bold, multifaceted character.
Appearance. Jet black and opaque (SRM 40+). Topped with a persistent, fine-bubbled, deep tan head that leaves dense lacing. High viscosity is apparent through visible legs on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity. Dominant notes of rich dark chocolate and espresso-like roasted malt. Significant liquor-like ethanol sweetness is present, complemented by subtle dark fruit esters resembling dried plum or raisin. Low earthy hop character.
Taste. Bold initial impression of bittersweet chocolate and heavily roasted grain. The middle palate reveals deep coffee notes and a hint of black licorice. Moderate-high bitterness provides essential balance against the massive malt backbone. The finish is long and warming with a lingering roasted dryness and a reappearance of dark chocolate.
Mouthfeel. Full to very full-bodied with a luscious, velvety, and chewy texture. Carbonation is low to moderate and fine-beaded. Notable alcohol warmth is smooth and comforting, with no harsh astringency from the dark malts.
