Heavy Trooper is a decadent Wee Heavy that commands attention with a rich tapestry of deep malt and barrel influence. Nine months in Whisky barrels imparts complex notes of charred oak, vanilla, and a distinct spirit-forward warmth that melds seamlessly with the base's profound maltiness. Expect layers of dark toffee, caramelized sugar, and toasted breadcrumbs, reminiscent of traditional Scottish Pale Ale malt profiles. Hints of dried plum and raisin emerge from the high-gravity fermentation, while the finish is defined by a lingering, smooth alcohol presence and a whisper of peaty smoke from the casks, rather than the malt itself. It is a powerful, meditative collaboration.

Appearance. Deep copper to dark mahogany with brilliant ruby highlights. It pours with a thick, creamy tan head that displays moderate persistence and leaves a light coating of lace on the glass. Pronounced legs are visible, reflecting the high alcohol and extract content.

Aroma. High intensity and profoundly malty. Dominant scents of rich toffee, butterscotch, and dark bread crusts are primary. The nine-month barrel aging introduces significant Whisky notes, including vanilla, coconut, and a touch of peaty oak. Low esters of dried dark fruits like figs and prunes are present, with virtually no hop aroma.

Taste. The palate is greeted by a massive wave of bready-toasty malt and chewy caramel. The mid-palate reveals the Whisky barrel's contribution: oak tannins, vanilla, and a sophisticated spirituous flavor. Bitterness is low, serving only to prevent the beer from becoming cloying. The finish is long and warming, balancing malt sweetness with a hint of grainy roast and the dry edge of wood.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and viscous with a luxurious, chewy texture. Carbonation is moderate, providing enough lift to prevent heaviness. A significant, smooth alcohol warmth glows in the chest, well-integrated and devoid of harshness or fusel heat.
