La Pirata / Garage Beer Co Where’s My Brain At?
This Hazy IPA delivers a saturated sensory experience born from a collaboration between La Pirata and Garage Beer Co. The grist, featuring Golden Promise and oats, creates a soft, bready foundation that supports an explosive hop profile. Intense aromas of tropical mango and stone fruit from Mosaic and Azacca are sharpened by the bright citrus zest of Citra. On the palate, the beer is undeniably juicy, bursting with layers of passion fruit and grapefruit. Its restrained bitterness and velvety texture emphasize the hop-forward character, leading to a smooth, fruit-saturated finish that defines the modern New England style.
Appearance. Color is a pale straw to light gold (approx. 4 SRM) with a deep, opaque haze that provides a luminous shine. It is topped by a dense, rocky, white meringue-like head with excellent retention and thick lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by tropical notes of mango, papaya, and passion fruit from Mosaic and Azacca, supported by a sharp citrus profile of lime and orange zest from Citra. A low, clean, bready malt character from the Golden Promise provides a subtle background, with light fruity esters from the fermentation.
Taste. The flavor is intensely fruity, echoing the tropical and citrus hop notes from the aroma. Perceived bitterness is low to medium-low, remaining exceptionally smooth and never harsh. The Golden Promise malt offers a light, bready sweetness that balances the massive juicy hop character. The finish is off-dry and clean, leaving a lingering impression of tropical fruit salad.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a notable softness and creamy texture derived from the addition of oats. Carbonation is moderate. It feels smooth and plush on the tongue with no astringency or harsh hop bite, and a very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth.
