Perro Tuerto emerges as a vibrant collaboration between La Pirata and Flying Dog, delivering a punchy American IPA experience despite its sessionable 5.1% ABV. This highly hopped ale presents an intense aromatic profile dominated by bright citrus zest, resinous pine, and a hint of tropical fruit, reflecting Flying Dog’s bold hop heritage. A clean, lean malt backbone of pale grains allows the hop bitterness to take center stage, ensuring a crisp and decidedly bitter finish. Balanced and refreshing, it captures the craft spirit of both breweries with a focused hop-forward character and a dry, lingering hop-drenched aftertaste.
Appearance. Ranging from medium gold to light amber (approx. 7-10 SRM). Features a medium-sized, white head with good persistence and light lacing; clarity is clear to slightly hazy.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent citrus, pine, and light tropical fruit notes. Supported by a low, clean, grainy maltiness. Fermentation profile is clean with negligible esters.
Taste. Strong hop flavors of grapefruit zest and resinous pine dominate the palate. Malt flavor is low and grainy-sweet, providing a minimal but necessary backbone. Bitterness is medium-high to high, leading into a dry, crisp finish with a lingering, clean hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth texture. Carbonation is medium-high. Alcohol warmth is very low and well-integrated, with no astringency from the high hopping rate.
