Belgian Specialty Ale 5.6 º 22 IBU
This Belgian Pale Ale bridges Flemish tradition with Catalan character, presenting a deep copper-to-brown pour topped with dense, creamy foam. A base of Pale Ale and Munich malts provides a robust, consistent foundation, layered with the biscuity and honeyed sweetness of Biscuit and Crystal malts. The bouquet is a delicate balance of caramel and local orange zest, accented by subtle piney hop notes. On the palate, a silky, medium-bodied mouthfeel gives way to toasted bread crust and a pleasant, lingering bitterness reminiscent of bitter oranges. It finishes balanced and smooth, reflecting a refined, multi-stage use of German and Belgian hops.
Appearance. Deep amber to light brown (12–15 SRM). Very good clarity with a dense, creamy, off-white head that shows excellent persistence and lacing.
Aroma. Moderate intensity. Dominant bready and toasty malt notes from the Munich and Biscuit malts, complemented by light caramel and honey. Pronounced citrus fragrances of orange zest and lemon, with a faint, clean resinous pine note. Low fruity yeast esters; no noticeable phenols.
Taste. Initial soft, sweet malt impression featuring toasted bread, biscuit, and light caramel. Moderate fruitiness highlights the orange character. Low herbal and pine hop flavor. Bitterness is medium-low (22 IBU), providing just enough support to balance the malt sweetness. The finish is balanced with a lingering bitter orange aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a silky, creamy texture. Medium carbonation. Alcohol warmth is low and well-integrated at 5.6% ABV. Smooth palate with no astringency.
