This Black Session IPA, a collaboration between La Débauche and Ouroboros, showcases a sophisticated balance between dark aesthetics and vibrant hop character. Utilizing cold steeping for its roasted grains, the beer presents a deep black hue without the aggressive acridity often found in darker styles. The nose is greeted by high-intensity aromas of tropical fruit and bright citrus, layered over delicate whispers of cocoa and cold-brew coffee. On the palate, the hop-forward profile delivers waves of mango and grapefruit that meld into a smooth, chocolatey mid-palate. With its light body and crisp, dry finish, it remains remarkably sessionable while offering the complexity of a much larger Specialty IPA.

Appearance. Opaque black (35-40 SRM) with a dense, persistent light tan head and excellent lacing.

Aroma. High intensity of tropical fruit (mango, passion fruit) and citrus; moderate notes of cocoa and soft-roasted coffee bean; clean fermentation profile with very low malt sweetness.

Taste. Initial flavors of juicy tropical fruits and citrus zest; mid-palate offers restrained chocolate and light toast without burnt notes; medium-high bitterness; dry, clean finish with lingering hop resin and a mild, smooth roast.

Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with moderate carbonation; notably smooth and creamy for a session beer with no roast-derived astringency; negligible alcohol warmth.
