Grass Lane emerges as a vibrant expression of the New Zealand Riwaka hop, showcasing the intensity of a Double Dry Hopped American IPA. The sensory profile is dominated by an assertive aromatic burst of passionfruit and zesty pink grapefruit, underpinned by a signature Riwaka pungent, slightly dank herbal quality. A clean, lean malt base provides just enough structure to support the high hop presence without adding sweetness. The experience is bright and hop-forward, delivering a crisp, refreshing bitterness that lingers pleasantly. This single-hop showcase emphasizes a modern, tropical-fruit-driven character while maintaining the classic, dry, and bitter finish expected of the style.
Appearance. Medium gold (approx. 7 SRM) with a slight haze from the heavy dry-hopping. Features a medium-sized, white head with excellent persistence and fine lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of passionfruit, grapefruit, and a distinct New Zealand dankness. Low, clean, grainy maltiness supports the hops. Fermentation profile is clean with no noticeable esters or phenols.
Taste. Initial impression is hop-forward with intense flavors of tropical fruit and citrus. Malt flavor is low and bready, serving only to support the hop intensity. Bitterness is medium-high to firm, leading into a dry, clean finish. The aftertaste is hoppy and crisp with a lingering citrus zest.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly creamy texture from the dry-hop particulates. Medium carbonation provides a crisp bite without being harsh. Minimal alcohol warmth is perceptible at 6% ABV.
