This indulgent Imperial Stout, a collaboration with La Superbe, captures the essence of a decadent banana split. At a robust 10% ABV, it pours like liquid velvet, offering an intricate interplay between deep roasted malts and nostalgic dessert elements. The nose is greeted by high intensity aromas of ripe banana and sweet strawberry, underpinned by the rich, bittersweet character of cocoa nibs and fragrant vanilla. On the palate, the inclusion of lactose provides a creamy, sundae-like mouthfeel that balances the firm roast. Dark chocolate notes transition into a complex fruit finish, where vanilla rounds out the lingering alcohol warmth.
Appearance. Jet black and opaque (40 SRM). Pours with a thick, deep tan head that shows moderate retention. High viscosity is evident as the beer leaves slow-moving legs on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity with a rich blend of bittersweet chocolate, cocoa, and heavy roast. Pronounced fruity esters of ripe banana and sweet strawberry are front and center, complemented by a strong, sweet vanilla character. Low earthy hops and a gentle, clean alcohol warmth permeate the background.
Taste. Initial impression is sweet and dessert-like, featuring layers of dark chocolate and cocoa nibs. Strong banana and subtle strawberry fruitiness provide a sundae-like complexity.
