Belphégor presents a lush, modern take on the Hazy IPA, showcasing an elegant French twist through its unique ingredients. Utilizing Elixir and Barbe Rouge hops, it radiates an intense bouquet of ripe stone fruits and vibrant citrus. The Elixir hops contribute sophisticated notes of succulent peach, while Barbe Rouge infuses a delicate berry-like brightness and citrus zest. A soft, wheaty malt base provides a velvety, gourmand texture that balances a restrained bitterness. This combination yields a juicy, deeply aromatic experience with a smooth, pillowy finish that highlights the unique terroir of French hop varieties in a balanced, contemporary profile.
Appearance. Straw to light amber (4-6 SRM). Opaque, uniform haze with a luminous, healthy shine. Persistent, rocky, meringue-like white head with high retention and fine-textured lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent stone fruit (peach) and citrus (tangerine). Secondary notes of red berries and melon. Low bready, grainy malt character in the background. Clean fermentation with light, supportive esters and no buttery or acidic notes.
Taste. High fruity hop flavor mirroring the aroma with peach, orange zest, and soft strawberry notes. Low to medium-low neutral bready malt provides a soft backdrop. Bitterness is low to moderate and well-integrated, lacking any harshness. Finishes off-dry and smooth with a lingering juicy fruit character and a clean aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, pillowy, and velvety texture. Moderate carbonation. Very smooth with light, well-integrated alcohol warmth. Lacks any astringency or raw starchiness.
