La Bestia Craft Beer Marikelo
Marikelo is a decadent Sweet Stout that layers tropical indulgence over a complex grain bill. The sensory profile is dominated by the aroma of toasted coconut and creamy lactose, supported by deep cocoa and espresso notes from Chocolate, Roasted Barley, and Carafa malts. Red Rye Crystal and Avena provide a luxurious, velvet-like texture and a hint of spice. While Columbus and Willamette hops offer a restrained earthy bitterness, they primarily serve to balance the residual sweetness. This full-bodied ale finishes with a harmonious blend of dark chocolate and toasted coconut, presenting a sophisticated, dessert-forward character that remains remarkably smooth.
Appearance. Opaque black (38 SRM) with a thick, creamy, tan-colored head that exhibits excellent retention and leaves fine lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity of toasted coconut and cream-like sweetness from lactose. Moderate roasted grain character featuring dark chocolate and coffee notes. Low earthy and herbal hop aroma. Subtle dark fruit esters are present in the background.
Taste. Initial impression is rich and sweet, lead by chocolate and roasted coffee flavors. The middle palate reveals toasted coconut and a silky creaminess. Moderate bitterness from dark malts and Columbus hops provides balance. Willamette hops contribute a faint earthy flavor. The finish is sweet and lingering with a pleasant roasted grain aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and exceptionally creamy due to the addition of Avena and lactose. Moderate-low carbonation. A gentle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present at 6.2% ABV. Completely smooth with no astringency.
