L’Ombria Blat is a refreshing artisanal Weissbier that captures a vibrant Mediterranean spirit within the classic German wheat beer framework. Pouring a turbid old gold with a dense, moussy white head, it presents an inviting sensory profile marked by medium aromatic intensity. Unlike typical banana-heavy examples, this version highlights notes of red apple and fragrant orange blossom, complemented by soft citrus and orange zest nuances. The use of high-quality wheat and barley malts creates a structured medium body with well-integrated carbonation. It finishes with a delicate balance of low bitterness and faint sweetness, leaving a clean, floral retronasal impression.
Appearance. Old gold (6 SRM) with a hazy, turbid clarity from the wheat and yeast. Features a very thick, dense, and long-lasting white head with excellent retention.
Aroma. Moderate intensity with a grainy, bready wheat malt character. Notable esters of red apple and orange blossom dominate, supported by a soft citrus and orange-like yeast profile and a subtle, clean fermentation character.
Taste. Initial bready wheat malt sweetness is met with a unique fruit profile of apple and citrus zest. Low bitterness (approx. 10-15 IBU) provides just enough balance to prevent a cloying finish.
