Appearance. Deep copper to mahogany brown with distinct garnet highlights. It is topped by a large, creamy, off-white head that demonstrates excellent persistence and leaves fine lacing. Clarity is brilliant.

Aroma. Moderate to high intensity of rich, bready malt and toasted bread crusts. Pronounced Maillard products contribute notes of toasted cereal and dark caramel. Subtle herbaceous and earthy hop aromas are present, unusual for the style but well-integrated. The fermentation character is clean, though a very faint dark fruit ester is detectable.
