Klaxx Brewing Triple Modern
This modern Belgian Tripel balances traditional monastic complexity with a punchy dry hop. The use of wheat malt alongside barley provides a soft, voluptuous texture that supports a complex layering of Saaz, Golding, and Crystal hops, delivering classic floral and peppery spice notes. A significant Citra dry hop injects vibrant notes of citrus and tropical fruit, elevating the yeast-driven esters. At 9% ABV, the alcohol is well-integrated but provides a firm presence, leading into a dry, effervescent finish. It is a harmonious bridge between Old World phenolic depth and contemporary New World aromatic intensity.
Appearance. Deep yellow to pale gold (5-7 SRM). Brilliant clarity with high effervescence. Features a tall, rocky, long-lasting white head with dense Belgian lacing.
Aroma. High intensity. A complex bouquet of peppery and clove-like phenols blends with citrusy esters. The hop profile is assertive, showcasing the herbal spice of Saaz and Golding alongside the bright tropical fruit and grapefruit notes of Citra. Light, grainy-sweet malt with a subtle honeyed edge.
Taste. Initial impression of soft, grainy malt sweetness overtaken by spicy yeast phenols and citrus zest. Distinct flavors of lime and passionfruit from the Citra dry hop mingle with the earthy, floral tones of Crystal and Golding. Medium-high bitterness provides a firm structure, finishing very dry with a lingering spicy-fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a creamy, rounded texture from the wheat malt. High carbonation creates a lively, effervescent sensation. Alcohol provides a noticeable but smooth warmth, avoiding any harsh or fusel character.
