This Dark Mild, a collaboration for the Leeds! Leeds! Leeds! Beer Festival, presents a quintessential British session experience. It pours a deep mahogany with ruby highlights, leading with a malt-forward profile of toasted bread and dark crystal malt. The palate is rich with layers of caramel, toffee, and a distinct dark fruit character reminiscent of raisins and plums. Despite its sessionable strength, it maintains a satisfying depth with notes of milk chocolate and subtle licorice. A low bitterness from traditional earthy hops provides just enough balance to the sweetness, resulting in a smooth, classic finish that honors its historic ruby heritage.

Appearance. Deep mahogany to ruby-brown color (SRM 18-24). Generally clear with a thin, creamy off-white to light tan head that shows moderate retention and light lacing.

Aroma. Moderate intensity featuring a malt-driven bouquet of caramel, toasted bread crust, and milk chocolate. Subtle fruity esters of red berries and plum are present, alongside a very faint earthy and floral hop character.

Taste. Initial impression is malt-sweet with a bready, biscuity base. The mid-palate reveals flavors of dark toffee, light roast, and dried fruits like raisins. Bitterness is low, serving only to balance the residual malt sweetness. The finish is clean and slightly nutty, with a lingering, sweet malt richness.

Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a soft, gentle carbonation level typical of the style. Smooth and surprisingly creamy for its low gravity, with no perceived alcohol warmth or astringency.
