Closed Loop is a vibrant American IPA that captures the essence of the West Coast style through a sharp, hop-forward profile. A heavy-hitting combination of Citra, Centennial, and Mosaic hops drives the aromatic experience, delivering an initial burst of lemon sherbet and zesty grapefruit. As the palate develops, nuanced layers of tropical papaya and resinous pine emerge, supported by a clean, unobtrusive malt backbone. This beer emphasizes a bright, translucent appearance and a crisp, refreshing finish. It strikes a balance between firm bitterness and fruit-led complexity, showcasing the quintessential citrus and forest-like qualities of its classic hop varieties.
Appearance. Medium gold (6-8 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Features a medium-sized, persistent white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by citrus zest, lemon, and resinous pine. Subtle tropical notes of papaya and mango are present. Low, clean, grainy-sweet malt provides a neutral base. Fermentation profile is very clean.
Taste. Initial impression is a sharp, clean bitterness followed by flavors of lemon peel and grapefruit. Secondary notes of pine resin and tropical fruit appear mid-palate. Malt flavor is low and cracker-like, providing just enough support for the high hop bitterness. The finish is dry and crisp with a lingering, clean hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, crisp texture. Moderate to medium-high carbonation provides a refreshing bite. No perceived alcohol warmth or astringency.
