Jane’s Window is a quintessential Dark Mild that captures the comforting, humble spirit of the English countryside. Pouring a deep mahogany with a soft, tan head, it invites the senses with a delicate bouquet of toasted nuts, caramel, and a whisper of milk chocolate. On the palate, a complex yet approachable malt profile unfolds, revealing layers of fresh bread crust and sweet toffee balanced by subtle fruity esters reminiscent of plum and raisin. Despite its low gravity, the beer maintains a satisfying, medium-light body that never feels thin. This sessionable ale finishes clean with a gentle, earthy hop presence, embodying a timeless, literary elegance.
Appearance. Deep mahogany to dark brown (20-24 SRM) with excellent clarity. It supports a moderate, creamy, light tan head with fair retention and delicate lacing.
Aroma. Moderate malt intensity featuring aromas of toasted biscuit, hazelnut, and dark caramel. A low fruity ester profile suggests plum, while earthy hop notes and diacetyl are absent.
Taste. Initial malt-forward impression of sweet toffee and bread crust. Mid-palate introduces hints of milk chocolate and roasted nuts. Bitterness is low but sufficient to balance the malt sweetness. The finish is off-dry and clean with a lingering bready aftertaste and very low hop flavor.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, slightly creamy texture. Carbonation is low to moderate, contributing to a soft mouthfeel. Zero alcohol warmth and no detectable astringency.
