American IPA 5.8 º
Grounding is a soulful American IPA that captures the essence of the West Coast style with sensory nods to its earthy inspiration. It opens with an evocative bouquet of resinous pine, flowering herbs, and a subtle, damp-earth spice that mirrors the brewery’s Book of Earth theme. On the palate, a firm but clean bitterness anchors flavors of grapefruit peel and woodsy undergrowth, supported by a lean, bready malt backbone. The finish is remarkably dry and crisp, inviting another sip while maintaining a meditative balance between floral delicacy and rugged bitterness. At 5.8% ABV, it offers a calming yet vibrant expression of classic hop-forward craft.
Appearance. Clear, deep golden to light copper color (approx. 8 SRM). Persistent, frothy white head with excellent lacing and moderate retention.
Aroma. High hop intensity featuring prominent notes of resinous pine, floral blossoms, and a hint of dried spice. Low, clean, grainy-sweet maltiness provides a neutral backdrop. Fermentation is very clean with negligible yeast esters.
Taste. Assertive hop bitterness is immediate, followed by flavors of citrus zest, pine resin, and forest floor. Low grainy malt sweetness provides minimal support, leaning toward a notably dry, crisp finish. The aftertaste is lingering and bitter with a clean, resinous quality.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily hop texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a lively mouth-coating prickle. Alcohol warmth is very low and well-integrated without harshness.
