Kettlehead Brewing

This Double IPA showcases a complex, modern hop profile driven by Citra, Talus, and Zappa. The nose is a vibrant explosion of tropical fruit and bright citrus from the Citra, layered with the unique dried rose, pink grapefruit, and cedar notes characteristic of Talus. Zappa adds an intriguing undercurrent of spice and wild, savory passionfruit. On the palate, a lean, cracker-like malt backbone supports an assertive but smooth bitterness. The finish is remarkably dry, allowing the multifaceted hop oils to linger without heavy resin, while the 8% ABV provides a subtle, well-integrated warmth that enhances its drinkability.

Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (8 SRM). Brilliantly clear with a dense, persistent white head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring punchy mango, grapefruit pith, and lime. Talus provides distinct floral rose and herbal sage notes, while Zappa contributes a wild, spicy, and dank berry-like character. Malt is neutral and supportive, providing a faint grainy sweetness in the background.

Taste. Leading with intense tropical fruit and citrus hop flavors. Bitterness is firm and clean, approximately 70 IBU, without any harshness. Minimal caramel character; instead, a soft, doughy malt support is present. The beer finishes very dry with a lingering note of grapefruit peel and herbal spice.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, soft texture. Carbonation is moderate-high. Noticeable but restrained alcohol warmth is present without being solventy. No hop-derived astringency.
