Kettlehead Brewing

Dreamstate is a vibrant Double IPA that showcases an intense saturation of Mosaic and Rakau hops. The pour reveals a gold hue with a persistent off-white head. Aromas are dominated by a complex blend of overripe tropical fruit, stone fruit like apricot, and a distinctive piney resin. On the palate, the Rakau hops provide a lush, orchard-fruit depth while Mosaic layers in notes of blueberry and citrus zest. A clean, neutral malt base supports the high hop load without adding cloying sweetness. The finish is remarkably smooth for its strength, offering a lingering, resinous bitterness and a well-integrated alcohol warmth that enhances its bold, hop-forward character.

Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (approx. 8 SRM). Persistent, creamy white head with excellent lacing. Slight haze is present, common in modern versions with high hop saturation.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring pungent tropical notes of mango and papaya, coupled with stone fruit like apricot and peach. A hint of blueberry and earthiness is present. Low, clean, bready malt in the background; neutral fermentation profile with very subtle, clean alcohol.

Taste. Initial explosion of tropical fruit, resinous pine, and ripe stone fruit flavors. Malt is soft and supportive, providing a light cracker and grainy foundation. High bitterness is firm but smooth, lacking harshness. The finish is medium-dry with a long, resinous, and fruity aftertaste. Clean fermentation with low esters.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, velvety texture. Moderate carbonation. A gentle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is noticeable but restrained. No hop-derived astringency despite the heavy hop load.
