In Peccatum Craft Beer

This English Porter presents a refined, dark brown character defined by its expressive malt backbone. Deep aromas of toasted biscuit and rich milk chocolate lead the sensory experience, complemented by subtle notes of toffee and roasted nuts. On the palate, a gentle sweetness of caramel integrates with a mild, earthy hop presence and a whisper of dark fruit esters. The finish is remarkably smooth, offering a delicate cocoa-like bitterness without any harsh burnt qualities. Its approachable nature reflects the style's classic British heritage, balancing soft roasted complexity with a clean, moderately dry aftertaste that invites another sip.

Appearance. Dark brown with deep garnet highlights. Pours with a moderate, creamy tan head that shows fair retention and light lacing. Generally clear, though appearing nearly opaque in the glass.

Aroma. Moderate intensity of toasted bread and biscuity malt, layered with milk chocolate and light nuttiness. Subtle earthy hop notes are present, alongside a faint hint of dark berry esters. Low diacetyl may be present as a faint buttery note.

Taste. Initial flavors of toasted grain and caramel give way to a smooth chocolate roastiness. Moderate bitterness supports a balanced profile, preventing cloying sweetness. Notes of toffee and light coffee emerge mid-palate, finishing with a lingering, clean malt dryness and minimal earthy hop presence. Never harsh or burnt.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a light, creamy texture. Moderate carbonation provides a gentle prickle on the tongue, while the 5.6% ABV offers a very faint, well-integrated warmth without being hot.
