Kells Irish Red is an elegant Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer that artfully elevates the traditional Irish Red Ale base with an infusion of cardamom. It presents a striking, deep ruby-red appearance crowned by a dense, tan foam. The sensory profile is led by the aromatic, resinous lift of the cardamom, providing notes of eucalyptus and ginger that complement the malt’s toffee and toasted biscuit foundation. The palate is exceptionally smooth, balancing a gentle caramel sweetness with the cooling, herbal spice. It finishes with a clean, persistent botanical note, creating a harmonious and sophisticated drinking experience.

Appearance. Intense, deep ruby-red (15-18 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Features a thick, dense, tan-colored head with excellent persistence and fine lacing.

Aroma. Moderate to high intensity. The distinctive, perfumed character of cardamom is prominent, offering notes of ginger, citrus, and eucalyptus. This is supported by a base of sweet caramel, light toffee, and toasted bread. Hop aroma is nearly absent, and fermentation esters are very low.

Taste. Initial malt impressions of caramel and biscuit are immediately followed by the complex, herbal, and slightly resinous flavor of cardamom. The spice provides a sophisticated layer that melds with the base beer rather than overwhelming it. Hop bitterness is low to moderate, providing enough balance to prevent cloying. The finish is smooth and long, with a lingering, pleasant spice aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, velvety texture. Moderate carbonation provides a gentle lift. Alcohol warmth is negligible at 5% ABV, and there is no perceived astringency from the cardamom.
