Keks Tramuntana is a complex Experimental Beer that harmonizes local Alt Empordá spelt with rich, syrupy Can Bech figs. The sensory profile is anchored by a toasted barley base, offering deep bread crust and nutty notes. Arabica coffee introduces an earthy, roasted dimension that complements the dark fruit sweetness of the figs. The addition of oat flakes and spelt creates a remarkably creamy, smooth texture that carries the noble yeast esters and subtle floral hop character. This Mediterranean-inspired ale balances toasted grain depth with a lingering, fruit-forward finish, delivering a unique and full-bodied drinking experience.
Appearance. Deep copper to mahogany (17–22 SRM). Persistent, creamy tan head with fine lacing. Slight haze present due to the high protein content from the spelt and oat flakes.
Aroma. Moderate-high intensity featuring rich toasted malt breadiness and caramelized fig sweetness. Distinctive earthy and nutty Arabica coffee notes emerge as it warms. Subtle spicy noble hop character and a faint grainy tang from the spelt are supported by clean fermentation esters.
Taste. Initial impression is of dark fruit sweetness from the figs in syrup, quickly followed by toasted malt and nutty grain flavors.
