Appearance. Opaque jet black (40 SRM). Deep tan, creamy head with moderate retention and significant lacing. High viscosity is evident as legs on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity of rich bittersweet chocolate and heavy roasted coffee. Moderate esters of dried dark fruits like prunes and raisins. Distinctive Bowmore barrel notes contribute earthy peat smoke, sea salt, and a subtle medicinal quality. Well-integrated, smooth alcohol aroma.

Taste. Intense flavors of cocoa and dark-roasted grain. Prominent smokey peat and charred oak from the Bowmore aging. Moderate dark fruit flavors of plum and fig. Firm bitterness provides balance to the malt sweetness. The finish is long and warming with a lingering character of roasted grain and peaty smoke.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and chewy with a velvety, luscious texture. Low to moderate carbonation. Significant but smooth alcohol warmth. Low astringency despite the heavy roast and barrel tannins.
