Appearance. Deep coppery-brown to dark brown (20-22 SRM) with a huge, dense, moussy, and persistent light tan head that leaves significant lacing; typically clear to slightly hazy from bottle conditioning.
Aroma. High intensity with a rich, bready-toasty malt base featuring dark caramel and a hint of roasted chocolate. Prominent esters of raisins, dried plums, and figs are complemented by low spicy phenols and a soft, perfumy alcohol presence.
Taste. Initial malt richness offers flavors of caramel, mild roasted malt, and chocolate. This evolves into complex notes of raisins and dark fruit. Bitterness is medium-low, providing balance against the malt sweetness without being overt. The finish is bittersweet and moderately dry with lingering herbal spice and fruit.
