This celebratory English Barley Wine pays tribute to robust West Coast traditions, blending deep malt complexity with a vibrant hop profile. The aroma leads with rich toffee, toasted bread, and dark dried fruits, layered beneath assertive floral and citrus-tinged hop notes from a generous cold-hopping. Six months of cold conditioning in stainless steel has refined its edges, resulting in a velvety, integrated palate. Flavors of caramel and biscuit meet a firm, lingering bitterness that balances the 9% ABV. It is a bold, chewy sipper where the neutral yeast allows the intricate interplay of specialty malts and resinous hops to command the spotlight.
Appearance. Deep amber to copper with ruby highlights (14-18 SRM). Pours with a moderate, creamy off-white head that shows fair retention for the strength. Brilliant clarity with noticeable legs and viscosity visible on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity. Dominant aromas of rich caramel, toffee, and toasted bread are complemented by moderate esters of raisins and dried figs. The hop character is assertive and fresh, offering floral and slightly resinous notes. A clean, soft alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated.
Taste. Initial impression of rich, multi-layered malt sweetness featuring toffee, biscuit, and light molasses. The mid-palate introduces a firm bitterness and flavors of orange marmalade and earthy hops. Brassé pour le 10e anniversaire des bières Jukebox, ce vin d’orge est un hommage aux classiques bières robustes de la côte ouest. Il est généreusement houblonné et fermenté avec une levure neutre pour mettre en valeur la complexe interaction des malts et des houblons. La moitié de cette cuvée spéciale a été affinée six mois en barriques de bourbon alors que la seconde moitié a reposé six mois en cuve d’inox à 4 degrés Celsius pour en adoucir les aspérités. Le tout a été assemblé puis houblonné à froid avant d’être mis entre vos mains.
