This elder sibling to the Flanders Red exhibits a deep, multi-layered profile shaped by twenty-four months in red wine casks. The sensory experience is dominated by rich, dark malts delivering notes of chocolate, toffee, and a faint hint of coffee, which harmonize with a bold tapestry of dried fruits like raisins, plums, and black cherries. The extended wood contact imparts a vinous elegance and subtle oak character, while the 8.4% ABV provides a refined warmth that balances the signature sweet-and-sour interplay and complexity.

Appearance. Dark reddish-brown with deep mahogany highlights. Good clarity from long aging. Produces a moderate, light tan head with average retention.

Aroma. High intensity and complex. A rich base of caramel and toasted malt is accented by distinct notes of chocolate and dark-roast coffee. Fruity esters are prominent, reminiscent of figs, dates, and cherries, intertwined with a moderate lactic sourness and a clear vinous, oaky presence from the red wine barrels. No hop aroma is present.

Taste. A balanced sweet-and-sour profile where initial dark caramel and burnt sugar flavors give way to sophisticated fruit complexity.
