Viva El Rye is a distinctive Specialty IPA that showcases the unique potential of a 100% rye malt bill, resulting in a beer with an exceptionally creamy mouthfeel and a spicy, peppery grain character. The sensory profile is driven by the Sorachi Ace hop variety, which contributes unconventional and vibrant aromatics of toasted coconut, fresh pineapple, and aromatic cedarwood. This interplay between the spicy rye malt base and the tropical, woody hop notes creates a complex and refreshing experience. The beer finishes dry with a firm bitterness and a lingering herbal brightness, perfectly balancing the substantial body provided by the grain.
Appearance. Deep gold to copper-amber with a slight, persistent haze from the high rye content. Pours with a dense, creamy, off-white head that shows excellent retention and leaves thick lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring unique notes of coconut, lemon zest, and pineapple from the Sorachi Ace, underpinned by a fragrant cedarwood character. The malt provides a prominent spicy and peppery graininess with low background sweetness.
