Jopen Jacobus is a complex and refreshing Rye Pale Ale that balances vibrant American hops with a distinctive spicy grain character. The pour reveals a glowing amber hue, releasing a moderate to high intensity aroma of grapefruit, orange, and resinous pine. On the palate, the inclusion of rye malt provides a sturdy toasted bread and caramel foundation, punctuated by a characteristic peppery spiciness that enhances the perceived dryness. Appearance. Deep amber to light copper (SRM 12–14) with moderate clarity; slight haze may be present from the rye content. Supports a persistent, off-white, creamy head with excellent lacing.

Aroma. Moderate to high hop aroma featuring classic American profiles of grapefruit, orange peel, and forest pine. The malt presence is notable, offering scents of toasted bread and light caramel, complemented by a sharp, spicy, and peppery rye character. Clean fermentation profile.

Taste. Initial impression is a blend of juicy grapefruit and resinous hops followed immediately by a bready, toasted malt sweetness. The mid-palate is defined by the unique peppery bite of rye malt, which adds complexity and a drying effect. Hop bitterness is firm and well-integrated. Jopen Jacobus RPA is vernoemd naar de voormalige Jacobskerk. Jopen heeft deze kerk in gebruik genomen als brouwerij, grand café en restaurant en omgedoopt tot Jopenkerk. Het bier werd in 2011 ontwikkeld voor het honderdjarig bestaan van de kerk. Jacobus is de beschermheilige van de pelgrims. Zij brachten tijdens hun tocht de nacht door in gasthuizen. Deze gasthuizen waren vrijgesteld van accijns, mits er werd gebrouwen met rogge. Om die reden is Jacobus een Rogge Pale Ale. Een bier met pit.

Está elaborada con centeno ya que los peregrinos pernoctaban en hospedajes que estaban exentos de impuestos, siempre y cuando elaborasen la cerveza con dicho cereal.En el vaso, la Jopen Jacobus Rye Pale Ale presenta un color cobrizo, coronado por una espesa espuma color blanco roto.Con su estilo Spice/Herb Beer, presenta aromas a malta caramelo, frutas confitadas, nuez moscada y miel.En boca es ligera, malteada y afrutada, con un regusto muy fino y especiado.El predominio del centeno acompaña perfectamente al lúpulo.Se recomienda beberla a 5,5°.

Rye malt gives the beer a distinctive taste. Jopen Jacobus RPA is named after the Jopenchurch; the former Jacob's Church, which was in use for 100 years in 2011. In addition, Jacobus (James) is the patron saint of pilgrims. Pilgrims used to spend the night in hospitals that were exempt from excise duty because of their religious function, provided they brewed with rye malt. Hence the choice for a Rye Pale Ale.
