Jopen Ex-Girlfriend is a decadent Eisbock, created by freeze-distilling the brewery's signature 4-grain Bokbier to reach a potent 12% ABV. This process concentrates the unique interplay of barley, wheat, oats, and rye, resulting in a deeply viscous and complex sensory profile. Expect an aromatic intensity of rich Maillard products, toasted bread, and dark fruits like raisins and plums, underpinned by a smooth, warming alcohol presence. On the palate, the multi-grain base provides a layered malt sweetness and velvety texture, balanced by a clean lager finish. Appearance. Deep dark brown with brilliant ruby highlights (25-30 SRM). Clarity is excellent. The head is off-white to ivory, appearing thin with moderate to poor retention due to high alcohol concentration. Pronounced legs are visible on the glass after swirling.

Aroma. High intensity malt dominance featuring rich notes of toasted bread, dark caramel, and a hint of chocolate. Significant dark fruit esters reminiscent of dried plums and grapes are present. The alcohol aroma is clean and prominent but well-integrated, lacking any solvent-like harshness. Clean fermentation profile with no hop aroma.

Taste. Initial impression is a wave of rich, sweet malt and concentrated Maillard flavors. The complex grain bill contributes bready and nutty layers. Flavors of dark fruit and caramel persist throughout. Hop bitterness is low, providing just enough structure to prevent a syrupy finish. No hop flavor is present. The finish is long and warming with a slight alcohol-driven dryness.

Mouthfeel. Very full-bodied and viscous with a silky, creamy texture. Carbonation is low, enhancing the beer’s weight and rich presence. Significant alcohol warmth is present but remains smooth and soothing rather than sharp or hot. No astringency or harshness is detected despite the concentration.
