This American Stout presents a deep, nocturnal profile characterized by a robust roasted grain bill. Significant additions of wheat malt and oats create a silky, substantial foundation for intense notes of dark chocolate and espresso driven by Carafa III and roasted barley. The use of Challenger hops provides a firm, spicy bitterness that balances the rich, bready character of the Munich and Pilsner base malts. Bottle conditioning with brown sugar adds a subtle depth to the fermentation profile, resulting in a complex, creamy dark ale that transitions from toasted sweetness to a dry, lingering roasted finish.

Appearance. Jet black and opaque (SRM 35-40). Pours with a thick, persistent light tan head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.

Aroma. Moderate to high intensity. Dominant aromas of roasted coffee and bittersweet chocolate from the Chocolate malt and roasted barley. Moderate earthy and spicy hop notes from the Challenger variety, with a subtle grainy sweetness from the wheat.

Taste. Leading with aggressive roasted flavors of dark chocolate, burnt toast, and espresso. The malt profile is enriched by the grainy character of oats and wheat, balanced by the bready depth of Munich malt. The Challenger hops provide a firm, woody bitterness (approx. 50 IBU) that persists into a medium-dry, clean finish with a lingering roasted coffee aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a pronounced creaminess and smooth texture derived from the oats and wheat flakes. Carbonation is moderate-high from bottle refermentation. Very low alcohol warmth with a slight, pleasant roast-derived astringency.
