This American IPA is a concentrated exploration of New Zealand Nelson Sauvin hops, utilizing the "Nelson Bliss" blend to harmonize early-harvest white wine and citrus notes with late-harvest tropical intensity. The sensory experience is dominated by an explosion of crushed gooseberry, passionfruit, and lychee, amplified by the addition of Nelson T90, Nelson Cryo, and Nelson Hop Kief. A lean, grainy malt base provides a crisp stage for this hop-forward profile, leading to a decidedly dry finish. Vibrant carbonation and a smooth, medium body ensure the complex fruit layers—ranging from bright lemon zest to syrupy mango—remain punchy and refreshing.
Appearance. Color is medium gold (7 SRM) with a slight, hop-derived haze; topped by a persistent, frothy white head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.
Aroma. Intense, multi-layered hop bouquet featuring distinctive white wine grapes, gooseberry, and pungent passionfruit. Low to medium-low clean, grainy maltiness supports high-intensity notes of grapefruit zest and tropical nectar.
Taste. High-intensity hop flavors of guava and tropical fruit nectar followed by a sharp, wine-like dryness. A firm, clean bitterness (approx. 55-60 IBU) balances the perceived tropical sweetness. The finish is crisp and hoppy with a lingering citrus rind aftertaste and minimal esters.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly creamy texture from the high hop concentration. Moderate-high carbonation provides a refreshing bite, accompanied by a subtle, well-integrated alcohol warmth.

For our latest collaboration with our friends at New Image Brewing in Colorado, we took a deep dive into New Zealand Nelson Sauvin hops. It started when Freestyle Hops released a special blend of called “Nelson Bliss”, which combined early and late harvest Nelson with the goal of “capturing as much of the tropical intensity of Nelson Sauvin as possible without losing the brighter citrus and wine-y notes from earlier harvested Nelson.” From there, we added Nelson T90, Nelson Cryo, and Nelson Hop Kief to take the huge tropical sweetness as far as we can go.
