Appearance. SRM 14-18; deep amber to medium copper with distinct ruby highlights. The head is moderately low, off-white, and shows moderate lacing with some legs present on the glass. Clarity is brilliant.
Aroma. High intensity. A dominant malt richness featuring bready and toasty notes with light caramel. Hops are assertive, displaying citrus and resinous characteristics. Subtle, spicy, and slightly earthy nuances from the African pepper are present. Moderate esters and a noticeable, clean alcohol presence.
Taste. Strong initial impact of bready, toasted malt sweetness and citrusy hop flavor. Bitterness is aggressive but well-tempered by the 11% ABV malt backbone. The African pepper provides a delicate, spicy heat that emerges mid-palate and lingers into the finish. Low to moderate esters are present. The finish is malty yet dries out significantly, leaving a warm, spicy, and bitter aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and chewy with a velvety, luscious texture. Carbonation is moderate-low. Alcohol warmth is significant and smooth, complemented by a persistent, gentle spicy tingle from the pepper. No harsh astringency.
