The Wheated Man is a monumental Imperial Stout that showcases an extraordinary 29-month maturation in 20-year-old Heaven Hill bourbon barrels. A trifecta of wheat malts builds a remarkably plush, velvety foundation, while dark crystal malts and a generous addition of brown sugar impart deep layers of toffee and scorched caramel. The sensory experience is dominated by an intense, well-aged spirit character, weaving together notes of vanilla and toasted oak with the beer’s inherent dark chocolate and dried fruit complexity. Despite its massive stature, the extended aging ensures a harmonized, decadent profile where the robust malt sweetness gracefully counters a firm roasty bitterness and significant alcohol presence.

Appearance. Opaque jet black with a thin, creamy deep tan head; visible viscosity is present with prominent legs forming on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity with a complex bouquet of bittersweet chocolate and espresso; significant bourbon influence provides notes of vanilla, oak, and spirituous warmth alongside dark fruit esters of raisin and fig.

Taste. Decadent initial impression of toffee and burnt sugar from the dark crystal malts; layers of roasted grain and cocoa follow, supported by a smooth, woody spirit character and a lingering, warming finish that remains balanced and not cloying.

Mouthfeel. Full to very full-bodied with a chewy, velvety, and luscious texture from the wheat; low carbonation and a significant, smooth alcohol warmth.
