This vibrant Berliner Weisse bursts with a tropical menagerie of aromas, driven by the intense additions of mango, peach, and pineapple. The pour reveals a dense, hazy golden hue topped by a fleeting white foam. On the palate, a sharp lactic acidity provides a crisp backbone, cutting through the lush, smoothie-like textures of the fruit. Toasted coconut adds a creamy, decadent layer that rounds out the sharp citrus edges. The result is a medium-full bodied yet refreshing sour ale that balances bright orchard sweetness with a deep, exotic finish, reflecting the bold, fruit-forward mastery characteristic of the J. Appearance. 3-6 SRM; deep straw to gold with a noticeable haze from fruit solids. Pours with a white, frothy head that has poor retention due to high acidity and fruit oils.
Aroma. High intensity of tropical fruit; dominant mango and pineapple with a soft, stone fruit peach undertone. A distinct creamy coconut note provides a dessert-like quality, layered over a sharp lactic sourness and a faint, doughy wheat malt character.
Taste. Initial impression is a sharp, clean lactic sourness followed immediately by a wave of tropical fruit. Mango and pineapple provide a bright, acidic punch, while peach softens the mid-palate. Toasted coconut adds a perceived sweetness and richness. Malt flavor is low, appearing as light bread dough. No hop flavor or bitterness is present.
