IV:UUR Zwärrechie
This Double IPA presents a vibrant tapestry of new-world hop character, skillfully blending three American and two German hop varieties. The sensory profile is dominated by an intense burst of tropical fruit, specifically highlighting sharp notes of pineapple and succulent passion fruit, alongside bright citrus and nuanced grape undertones. Despite its 7.6% strength, the beer maintains high drinkability with a clean, neutral malt backbone that allows the aggressive bitterness to shine without becoming harsh. It finishes decisively dry, leaving a lingering trail of resinous and fruity hop oils on the palate, characteristic of a well-crafted, hop-forward strong ale.
Appearance. Deep gold to light copper (approx. 8–10 SRM). Features a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head with excellent lacing. Displays good clarity, though a very faint haze from heavy hopping is acceptable.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma showcasing a complex blend of pineapple, passion fruit, and citrus zest. Subtle floral and white grape-like notes emerge from the German hop influence. Malt character is supportive and neutral with a light crackery graininess. Clean fermentation profile with a very faint, smooth alcohol presence.
Taste. Strong hop flavors of pineapple and zesty citrus lead, followed by mid-palate notes of passion fruit and grape. Bitterness is high and firm, providing a sharp structure without being astringent or harsh. The malt is minimal and clean, offering a soft, unobtrusive base to balance the hop oils. Finishes very dry and crisp with a long-lasting, resinous, and tropical fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, slightly oily texture from hop resins. Carbonation is medium-high, lending a lively mouth-filling prickle. A light, pleasant alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated into the finish.
