Skye Gold is an approachable Blonde Ale that pays homage to Scottish brewing tradition through the inclusion of porridge oats milled directly at the brewery. This addition imparts a distinctive grainy sweetness and an exceptionally smooth, creamy texture. The sensory profile is defined by a soft malt backbone with notes of freshly baked bread and cereal, complemented by a delicate, gentle hop presence that offers subtle floral and earthy nuances. With its brilliant golden hue and persistent creamy head, it balances a low bitterness against a clean, refreshing finish. It is a refined, malt-oriented pint that remains light on the palate while offering a unique velvety mouthfeel.
Appearance. Brilliant deep gold (SRM 5) with excellent clarity. Pours with a dense, creamy white head showing good retention and light lacing, aided by the protein content of the oats.
Aroma. Moderate intensity featuring grainy and bready malt notes. Low hop aroma, presenting as subtle floral and spicy scents. The fermentation profile is clean, with very low, nearly imperceptible fruity esters.
Taste. Initial soft maltiness showcasing bready and toasted grain flavors from the milled porridge oats. Hop flavor is light and earthy, providing a balanced bitterness that never overwhelms the malt-forward core. The finish is medium-dry and clean, with a lingering hint of sweet cereal grain.
