The Healer presents as a formidable Foreign Extra Stout, balancing a serious intensity with surprising drinkability. Deep aromatics of freshly roasted coffee and bittersweet dark chocolate lead the sensory experience, underscored by a subtle backdrop of dried dark fruits. The palate is dominated by rich, dark roasted malt layers that evoke espresso and cocoa without harsh acridity. Despite its robust 7.5% ABV, the finish is expertly attenuated and moderately dry, allowing earthy hop notes to emerge. This is a dark, brooding beer that matches its intense blackened death metal inspiration with a complex, velvety texture and clean fermentation profile.
Appearance. Very deep brown to opaque black (35-40 SRM). Pours with a large, persistent tan to brown head with excellent retention and thick lacing.
Aroma. High intensity of roasted malt, featuring prominent notes of espresso and dark chocolate. Moderate sweet aromatics of molasses and light dried fruit esters. Low earthy and herbal hop aroma with a subtle, clean alcohol presence.
Taste. Initial impression of rich, bittersweet dark chocolate and coffee roast without a sharp or burnt bite. Bitterness is firm and assertive (50-70 IBU), balancing the malt weight. Medium-low dark fruit esters and a hint of earthy hops. The finish is moderately dry and clean with a lingering roasted grain character.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full to full body with a smooth, creamy character. Carbonation is moderate to moderately high. Provides a noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth without being hot or fusel.
