Indie Rabble’s Silly Billy is a crisp American Pale Ale that leans into classic West Coast character. A bold dry-hop addition of Citra and Chinook delivers punchy layers of grapefruit zest and resinous pine, supported by the foundational herbal spice of Columbus hops. The sensory experience starts with a clean, grainy malt backbone that allows the hop-forward profile to shine without being heavy. On the palate, a firm, classic bitterness balances a light, refreshing body. This collaboration project offers a bright, aromatic profile with a dry, lingering finish of evergreen and citrus pith, making for a highly drinkable, hop-centric experience.
Appearance. Pale gold (6 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Pours with a moderately large, frothy white head that shows good retention and leaves delicate lacing.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity. Dominant citrus notes of grapefruit and lime from the Citra lead, followed by a strong resinous, woody pine character from the Chinook. A low, neutral grainy malt sweetness provides a clean base, with very subtle fruity esters and a touch of herbal spice from the Columbus.
Taste. Initial impression is of clean, crisp bitterness. High hop flavors mirror the aroma, featuring distinctive grapefruit pith and forest pine. The malt is supportive but restrained, offering notes of fresh crackers or white bread.
