This Belgian Imperial Rye Smoked Ale is a monumental winter sipper, unfolding with a dense tapestry of dark malt and bourbon barrel-aged complexity. The inclusion of Rye drives a distinctive peppery spiciness that interplays with threads of smoldering smoke and charred oak. At a staggering 15% ABV, it radiates a deep, spirituous warmth reminiscent of bourbon, complemented by Belgian-derived notes of raisin and dried plum. Thick and viscous, the sensory experience is defined by the heavy influence of vanilla and caramel from the wood, balanced by a lingering, spicy grain finish and a decadent, warming glow.

Appearance. Deep mahogany to near opaque dark brown (35-40 SRM); thin, tan head with poor retention and minimal lacing due to high alcohol concentration; highly viscous with visible legs on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity; rich aromas of vanilla, coconut, and toasted oak from bourbon aging; prominent spicy rye grain and campfire smoke; Belgian yeast esters contribute dark cherry and prune; noticeable but smooth alcohol presence.

Taste. Initial massive sweetness of caramel and dark sugar; heavy rye spice mid-palette followed by a wave of peat-like smoke and charred wood; complex dark fruit flavors; firm bitterness provides balance to the 15% ABV; finish is long, warming, and spirit-forward with lingering oak and spice.

Mouthfeel. Full, syrupy, and exceptionally viscous body; low carbonation; significant alcohol warmth that is intense but well-integrated; velvety texture with a slight rye-induced oiliness and no harsh astringency.
