This traditional Helles Bock presents a vibrant celebration of spring, showcasing the elegance of all-German ingredients. A deep golden pour reveals a robust malt backbone defined by rich, grainy-sweet notes of toasted bread and doughy Munich malt and Pilsner malt. The presence of German noble hops provides a necessary floral and spicy counterpoint to the malt sweetness, leading into a well-attenuated, clean finish. At 6.5% ABV, it balances substantial body with a refreshing drinkability. This lager avoids cloying sweetness, offering a sophisticated interplay between soft Maillard products and a firm, crisp bitterness that cleanses the palate.
Appearance. Deep gold to light amber (6-9 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a large, creamy, and persistent white head that exhibits excellent retention.
Aroma. Moderate to strong intensity featuring grainy-sweet malt with a lightly toasted quality and low Maillard products. A moderately-low spicy and floral German noble hop aroma is present. Fermentation is clean with no fruity esters and a very light hint of clean alcohol.
Taste. Initial impression is dominated by grainy-sweet, doughy, and bready malt flavors with subtle toasty interest. Low spicy and herbal hop flavors provide balance to the rich malt. Bitterness is moderate and well-balanced. The finish is well-attenuated and moderately dry, leaving a clean aftertaste of both malt and hops.
Mouthfeel. Medium-bodied with moderate to moderately-high carbonation. The texture is smooth and clean, lacking any harshness or astringency, accompanied by a light, well-integrated alcohol warmth.
