Iki Yuzu presents a delicate fusion of Eastern botanicals and Western brewing craftsmanship within the framework of a Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer. The sensory experience is dominated by the vibrant, aromatic citrus of yuzu, offering a fragrance that sits between lime and mandarin. This is underpinned by the soft, earthy, and slightly tannic presence of organic green tea leaves, which provides a unique herbal depth to the light malt base. Exceptionally crisp and refreshing, it carries a clean top-fermented character that emphasizes the zesty fruit and delicate tea over hop bitterness, making it a sophisticated, light-bodied aperitif.
Appearance. Pale straw to light gold (3-5 SRM). Pours with a brilliant clarity and a moderate white head that dissipates to a thin collar with light lacing.
Aroma. Moderate-high intensity of yuzu fruit, featuring bright notes of lemon zest, lime, and grapefruit. Beneath the citrus, a subtle, grassy, and herbal green tea character is evident. Low bready malt sweetness; hop aroma is negligible to allow the specialty ingredients to lead the profile.
Taste. Initial impression is brisk and citrus-forward with prominent yuzu zest and a hint of acidic tang. The mid-palate reveals a light, clean malt sweetness that quickly transitions into a dry, slightly herbal finish reminiscent of steeped green tea. Bitterness is low, serving only to balance the fruit acidity. Very clean fermentation profile with minimal esters.
Mouthfeel. Light to medium-light body with a crisp, effervescent carbonation that enhances the refreshing citrus qualities. Very smooth with a faint, pleasant tea-derived astringency in the dry finish. No perceived alcohol warmth.
