Split Second is a vibrant Hazy IPA that captures an intense bouquet of tropical and citrus notes. The interplay of Mosaic and Galaxy hops delivers a punch of passionfruit and pineapple, while Citra and Vista contribute bright layers of tangerine and ripe melon. A soft, grainy malt foundation provides a clean backdrop, allowing the hop-driven character to shine without competition. Its appearance is characteristically opaque with a luminous golden glow. On the palate, the beer is exceptionally smooth, offering a juicy profile with restrained bitterness and a plush, pillowy mouthfeel that finishes with a refreshing, fruity linger.
Appearance. Straw to deep gold (4–6 SRM). Opaque, hazy appearance with a soft radiance. Pours with a dense, rocky, meringue-like white head exhibiting excellent retention and heavy lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by tropical fruit (passionfruit, guava) and citrus (grapefruit, tangerine) from Mosaic and Citra. Notes of stone fruit and ripe melon emerge from Vista and Galaxy. Malt is subtle, providing a low, bready, and sweet grainy character. Fermentation is clean with supportive fruity esters and no alcohol presence.
Taste. High fruity hop flavor mirroring the aroma, featuring pineapple, mango, and citrus zest. Low to medium-low perceived bitterness that remains soft and well-integrated. The malt provides a neutral, bready support. Finishes off-dry to medium with a clean, lingering fruit-forward aftertaste that lacks any hop harshness or vegetal astringency.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, pillowy texture. Moderate carbonation. Very smooth with light, well-integrated alcohol warmth. No detectable astringency or raw starchiness.
