TheWay of the Wild Heart presents a vivid sensory tapestry defined by a massive citrus and tropical fruit profile. The use of Mosaic and Vista hops delivers layers of ripe papaya and melon, while Citra and Talus provide a distinctive zesty foundation of pink grapefruit and floral lime. This complexity is heightened by the inclusion of Yuzu juice, which imparts a bright, aromatic tartness. A grist of Pilsner malt and Pale Ale malt creates a subtle bready backdrop, while the addition of wheat and oats ensures a soft, luxurious mouthfeel. This Hazy IPA balances intense hop-driven fruitiness with a smooth, approachable bitterness and a juicy finish.
Appearance. Straw to deep gold (4–6 SRM) with a dense, persistent, meringue-like white head that leaves intricate lacing. The beer is opaque and hazy with a characteristic shine, free of large particulates or sediment.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring layers of tropical mango, crushed berries, and melon. Significant citrus presence driven by Citra and Yuzu juice, reminiscent of lime zest and tart grapefruit. The malt character is low, presenting as fresh bread and light grain. Fermentation is clean with subtle fruity esters that complement the hop profile.
Taste. Dominant flavors of tropical pineapple and stone fruit, quickly followed by a sharp, aromatic citrus punch of Yuzu and grapefruit. The Pale Ale and Pilsner malts provide a supporting grainy sweetness. Bitterness is restrained and smooth, never harsh or sharp. The finish is juicy and off-dry with a lingering note of citrus pith and soft floral tones.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a remarkably soft, silky texture contributed by the flaked oats and wheat. Carbonation is moderate. It feels smooth on the palate with very light alcohol warmth and no astringency or hop burn.
